About Floating Support?

Keeping a roof over your head is always extremely important. Unfortunately, especially in these difficult times, it is not always that easy.

Problems with rent arrears, benefits, debt, drugs and alcohol…? Whatever the reason, when things start to go wrong, you may need a helping hand to get back on track.

That is where Floating Support comes in.

What is Floating Support?

Floating Support is a free service for people who are struggling to remain in their own homes.

The support is temporary and will be provided for as long as it is needed. Its aim is to enable people to live as independently as possible. It is available to single people, couples and families from all communities, including people with mental health, alcohol or drug problems.

So how can it help?

Floating Support can provide help and advice in a lot of different areas, including:

  • Rent arrears and evictions
  • Benefits, budgeting and debt
  • Finding and setting up a new home
  • Accessing local services
  • Linking in with specialist support
  • Training, education and employment

So how does it work?

In most cases, if you are allocated a support space we will come and see you at home. You will get a dedicated support worker who will work with you to identify and overcome any issues you have that are putting your home at risk.

When you and your support worker agree that you no longer need support, it will go to someone else who needs it. But if you feel you need advice again in the future, you can get in touch again.
